The LORAX

Before miss Lilly's party, I'd didn't even know who "the lorax" was....much less know what he looked like. I'd seen the previews of the movie, but never looked further than the television screen.  Lucy explained who he was, gave me a picture of a cake she liked, and told me to have fun.  I changed some things up from the picture to make it just for Lilly.  Here's the end result. Thanks to Smitten and Hooked for the sweet pics!

a little surprise for the b-day girl :)

happy birthday LILLY!

We Did it!!

The weekend I've been planning for, finally arrived...and now it's all over...so soon! I had the privilege of making cake pops and the cutting cake for the doctor who delivered both of my children..the best coach ever :) Lots of planning went into how many we needed, what flavors, what colors, which flavor and color needed to be on short or long sticks....how far apart each cake pop should be, not to mention how many eggs I needed for such a large order...and the list goes on...

Here are the 450 plus cake pops all packaged up

We arrived in the mountains...and found these sweet signs pointing us to where we needed to go :) The wedding was held in the Highlands at Half Mile Inn Farm

The cutting cake that resembled the flowers hand drawn by Noelle on her wedding invite. anothe angle :)

The other part of her of her "cake" was her "cake pop cake". This was a first for us, and I hope not the last. We had a super talented friend custom make the stand (there's not enough space on the computer to list how much planning went into this) and we were super happy with how it all turned out.

Here it is, with the first tier almost complete...

and the end result!! YAY!!

So happy for you, Dr. Clarke...I mean, Noellee and Brent! It was an honor to be a small part of your beautiful wedding day! Thank you for getting me out of my comfort zone to do something I never thought possible...and thanks for the late supper after your busy rehearsal dinner!

Happy Wedding Day!

Celebrations...

This week was all about simple but exciting celebrations. Mrs. Todd, a former teacher buddy at NB celebrated her birthday this past week, and lucked out on some cupcakes ordered by Mrs. Edel. I'm sure her students were excited about that! Happy Birthday Mrs. Todd!
The next celebration: a wedding!

Cake Pops as a wedding favor...Congratulations!

Wedding Bliss

Going to the chapel and we're gonna get married...well, actually the beach :)
My friend, Janelle, was married on Sunset Beach this past weekend with a beautiful reception with these little pretties set at each place setting. She and her husband both teach, at the same school, so it was perfect that each cake pop be stuck in a green granny smith apple.
Congratulations Brian and Janelle!

Kiser Buddies

Kathi, the Assistant Principal at Kiser Elementary, contacted me in hopes that she would give each of her staff a cake bite to welcome them on their first day back to school. I was honored to play a small part of that first day. I also attached a small quote from Kathi that reflected their theme for the year. It read: "Change is not feared when we stand together." Hopefully their school year will be just as sweet as these cake bites!

Back to School

Apple cake bites for you teachers out there! Yummo! The books that are holding the cake pop were two of my Grandma Nixon's that she used in her high school days...

Well, it's that time of year again! School is almost back in session. The teachers are putting up their bulletin boards, writing the students names on their cubbies, preparing for that first day of school... ahh... a fresh start! This will be the first year that I'm not taking part in the excitement and rush of the new school year.

Three years ago, I was preparing my Pre-Kindergaten classroom, and finishing up home visits. Two years ago, I was moving to the first grade and trying to learn the new curriculum, but oh, was I excited! Then, last year, I moved to Kindergarten, and yes, it was by far the best. I was beside of my long time mentor, and worked with the best Kindergarten team around. I was also pregnant and about to pop! I had 26 in my classroom, and it kept me busy! This year, things have changed gears quite a bit. I am a stay at home mom and loving every minute. I'm going to miss the rush of the first part of the year, but being with my sweet Stella is worth more than words can say... Best wishes to all your teachers!!

Finally!

Finally...cupcake bites! I've been wanting to make these for a while now, and this weekend I made it happen! The top and bottom is melted chocolate with of course, sprinkles on top and cake in the middle. The process making them took a little while, considering it was my first time, but I loved the end product! I already have some ideas of what to do next time...
