pink chevron

Another CHEVRON!  This was for a friend I've not seen in at least 10 years...wow.  Her daughter was turning 1 and she had a super cute invite with light pink and grey chevron.  I took some pictures along the way...to show the steps I take when making a chevron cake....just in case you are interested :)

First, print out a template...(it would be scary if I tried to cut chevron free hand)...measure the height, to be sure where the chevron will be hitting the top and bottom of the cake.

make copies, then tape them together, depending on how big your cake is ... this was for an 8 inch...

this is the wax paper transfer technique (try saying that 10 times really fast)  ... put the template down first, then lay wax paper over it...grease with shortening...then begin cutting your template.  the shortening allows the fondant to stay in place so that when it's ready to be placed on the cake, you just lift the wax paper up and adhere the design to the cake ( after applying a little water, of course)
to see more on this technique that has changed my life- visit here.

....the end result!

Happy first b-day Harper!  I've never met you, but your Momma is precious! :) Hope this year is full of blessings!
